DiY Bandeau and Choker Set

Bandeau and choker set - made by me

High-waisted jeans - BOOHOO.COM

Gold Heeled Sandals - Primark
So one day I had no idea what to wear. I had a mocha/tan coloured maxi skirt, but no top to go with it. So I grabbed my scissors, chopped the skirt in half and then cut off a smaller part of that half... and thus the bandeau - choker set was born.

I bought these shoes the day I wore them - I just really needed a pair of smart shoes that weren't trainers, I have far too many trainers and I'm beginning to go to locations where trainers are inappropriate footwear. Also, trainers would have made this outfit far more casual than I had intended, so these shoes were a must - especially for £6!

I went to Dar Marrakesh with some old friends, some of which I hadn't seen for years. Its a Moroccan restaurant and sheesha lounge in Edgware Road - the food is so good and the atmosphere is lovely.

Until next time,

Brick Lane Vain - the green bodycon midi

DRESS - H&M | BAG: Primark

TRAINERS - yellow and green New Balance 420s
EARRINGS & JACKET - PRETTYLITTLETHING

So I went to Brick Lane with my friend after a successful day of thrift shopping in Mile End (I'll do a post on the items at some point...).
What inspired me for this look? I'm the kind of person who likes to dress relatively mono-coloured, I really wanted to wear this dress and my scuba bomber jacket was the perfect match! I also live for blurring the lines between classy and casual - high end and... not-so-high-end fashion. So instead of wearing the dress with some flats or casual heels, I paired it with some bright, statement trainers and statement giant hoop earrings with a plum lip colour (Sleek Matte Me - Vinto Tinto). But, the element of classiness is retained somewhat with the large faux leather handbag. This look is topped off with my hair in two buns, which involved A LOT of gel. Since becoming natural, my hair has become so thick! I'm also beginning to understand my curl pattern... sort of.

Until next time...

Bra-blems with #ThirdLove

So I've been asked to talk about my personal bra problems - my bra-blems... Now, although bras are great for giving the support we need daily, they can also give us unwanted stress and could cause some wardrobe malfunctions.

Here are my top 3 bra-blems:

ONE - The Show(er)

example: a black vest with a purple bra underneath.
One of my pet-peeves is being able to see bra straps - whether they're the same colour of the outfit or not! Personally, it appears tacky to me, so I try to avoid it at all costs.
My remedy is the strapless bra (helpful if it's a nude colour)
Straps away!
Much better! No straps here = no more attention drawn to my bra.

TWO - Cleave Me Alone

example
This issue is relative to a lack of cleavage. Some days you just want to feel good about yourself and be perky (literally). But, unfortunately, some bras do not give us the lift that we need, for the cleavage we need.
For this, I have two types of bras:

1- The Cross-back

This pulls the straps closer together and draws the space between your boobs close whilst lifting them up - lovely! But hard to put on by yourself...

2- The Padded Bra

Here my purple bra has made its second appearance (it happens to be my favourite). This is a bra with removable pads, and trust me, the pads make all the difference! The pads slip in under the cups which then go underneath your boobs and lift them accordingly - and it's much easier to put on.

Ta-da!
This level of cleavage is perfect for me - in this top it gives the perfect, subtle lift and shapes my boobs perfectly.

THREE - Nips Don't Lie

Here is my favourite bra-let (and the most risqué, I must say). Unfortunately, the beautiful pattern here doesn't cover my nips as much as I would like.

Hint: they feel like chicken fillets...
To solve this, I purchased some nipple covers so that my modesty may remain in tact. The standard price is about £6! I purchased mine from Boots in-store, but many online retailers sell them also.

Et voilá!

Here my nipples are perfectly covered, lending the attention to the beautiful pattern alone.

So there you have it - my top three bra-blems, and a few solutions that you can try for yourself (you're welcome).

#ThirdLove (@ThirdLove on Instagram) have also come up with a few helpful tips for us and our bra-blems; have a look...

On sale: £12

2 - White bralet
On sale: £12

3 - Black lace crop
On sale: £12

4 - Khaki midi dress
On sale: £7

5 - Emerald mini dress
On sale: £12
Isn't Black Friday wonderful...
I'm not 100% sure I got the discounted prices right for the first two articles of clothing, but the last three are accurate.

As you can tell from the title, Little Miss Selfridge is becoming a favorite store of mine, I spend the longest time in their dressing rooms - their clothes are beautiful! Overall the bralets seen here are suited best with high-waisted apparel, mostly jeans or trousers of some sort, due to their texture and cut. I'd style these with some light heels, maybe open toe, to contrast with the thickness of the bralet. However, I also think the tops would look so nice with a skater skirt, I think a midi skirt would be too thin and long-line for this type of top.

Even though the fourth item here was an absolute bargain at £7, I didn't get it. I love the colour though! Perfect with black (or white heels), preferably chunky due to the casual aura of the dress. Similarly, the final dress (the one I bought) would be paired nicely with some chunky heeled shoes, such as Vagabonds. I adore the colour of this dress! I own nothing like it and I'm excited to style it for you guys.

Until next time
